Student Support

Carver County residents can apply for services (food assistance, general assistance, etc) by calling Carver County Health and Human Services at 952-361-1600 and request to speak with Finical Assistance Intake, they will mail out an application. You can visit the Health and Human in person Carver County Government Center, 602 East Fourth St, Chaska 55318 to pick up an application.

Housing Insecurity
If your family is staying in a shelter, hotel, or temporarily with others because you’ve lost or cannot afford your own housing, there is help available to you. Watertown-Mayer Schools are guided by the McKinney–Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Carver County Community Development Agency 
Offers support and resources to find affordable housing.  Manages the family and adult coordinated entry point for the homeless. Assists with affordable housing units in Carver County. Offers budgeting education, foreclosure assistance and first time home buyer classes -- no income limit to attend.

Beacon - Families Moving Forward
Southwest location, takes 4 families at a time.  Provides temporary shelter in local churches; families move to a different church weekly. Assists families with finding long-term housing.

School Response

Step 1: 3 Unexcused Absences: Continuing Truant
School shall notify the parent or legal guardian.
School meeting with the student.

Step 2: 5 Unexcused Absences:
Pre-Diversion Meeting (Warning meeting):
School personnel sends 2nd notification to parent/legal guardian AND
Request a pre-diversion meeting
The meeting takes approximately 30 minutes.
Parents are required to attend the pre-diversion meeting.

Step 3: 7 Unexcused Absences: Habitual Truant Truancy Diversion Meeting
School staff will fill out the referral form
